Edwin A. Sisson

Ed advises customers in all aspects of the business and intellectual property process from patent and trademark procurement and enforcement to employment agreements and third party agreements such as tolling and licensing.  Ed also participates in re-examinations and Oppositions around the world.

Ed’s favorite entities are closely held global corporations in particular startups and venture capitalized businesses.  Ed’s approach is global and he travels outside the United States at least 4 times a year to handle customer matters.  Prior to starting the Firm, Ed was the Intellectual Property Manager for the M&G Group of Companies, the world’s second largest producer of plastic used in soft drink bottles.

Customers benefit from Ed’s 20 years of non-attorney business experiences at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Shell Oil Company, and M&G Polymers, USA.  At those firms, he worked in a variety of jobs including Global Business Manager, R&D Division Manager, and Supply Manager.   As Ed so often likes to say, “I understand the customers’ frustration with attorneys, I was the customer for over 20 years and hopefully, the Firm is not practicing those frustrating behaviors. 

Ed is an inventor in his own right with multiple patents and pending applications. 

Ed is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Jeffrey J. Banyas

Jeffrey practices trademark law, patent law after grant, and advises customers in all aspects of business law.  He enjoys working with customers to achieve success at all levels of business  

Jeffrey grew up being involved in all aspects of his family's high performance racing engine business.  Jeffrey himself began driving race cars professionally during high school, and continues to do so today.  Jeffrey's experience with the family business allows him to understand the unique issues facing small businesses today.  He draws on that experience to draft agreements, prepare and prosecute trademark applications, and advise customers on issues surrounding granted patents, licensing and trade secret matters.

While in law school, Jeffrey worked for the University of Akron, School of Law- New Business Legal Clinic, the City of Akron Law Department, and the law Firm Brennan, Manna, and Diamond, LLC in Akron,Ohio.  Jeffrey joined Edwin A. Sisson, Attorney at Law, LLC in January 2011.

Jeffrey is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. 

Jennifer A. Sisson

Jennifer is the Chief Administrative Officer of Edwin A. Sisson At Law, LLC.  She is responsible for the firm’s accounting,HR and the management of suppliers to the firm.  Jennifer has been trained in patent law, patentability searches and assists the attorneys in searching patents and other prior art.

Jennifer’s previous jobs include a licensed social worker, Case manager for Goodwill Industries and location manager of a national retail clothing chain.
